The Grass-Mud-Horse is a phenomenon reported by NYTimes. It is indeed the alpaca, and why call it a horse? Because his face looks very like a Chinese character ‘囧’, which is a most popular “smiley-like” symbol in China, in 2008. But there is still no relation between these things. But wait for it: someone listed the “Top 10 Almighty Beasts” of 2008, and Grass Mud Horse (which pronounces in Chinese almost the same as a offensive sentence to else’s mother) is the top 1. The Almighty Beasts do not exist, of course, so the top 1 beast met the top 1 hot animal in real world. That’s how Grass Mud Horse equals to alpaca.
There are some traditional woodblock prints in China about the traditional almighty beasts. So I tried to make a illustration in that style. Anyway, just for fun.
